It's never to early to stock up for next season! WE DELIVER AND STACK YOUR FIREWOOD! ***NOW SCHEDULING JUNE 2024 DELIVERIES!

What are you working with?

It's Hump Day!

People often ask, "How do you deliver all that firewood every week"?  Well there is so much more to the process than you think.  It takes good people, efficient process and healthy equipment.

First and foremost we must harvest the wood.  We start with cutting the logs, skidding the logs and loading the logs.  That requires a couple of pieces of key equipment beginning with the trusty chainsaw.

This is just one of the chainsaws we use as we have many but they all get the job done.  A well maintained chainsaw can cut several tons of logs on one tank of fuel. This allows us to get logs quickly to ensure we have logs for firewood, bundles and deliveries.  Chainsaws come in many different brands, sizes and bar lengths.

BIG chainsaws for BIG trees and....

Smaller chainsaws for smaller trees!

Next up, Skidder.  Skidders are imperative to logging.  It's a large piece of equipment that is used to pull or skid the trees from the forest to get them to their landing.  Seems like a large piece of machinery to creep through the forest but while the skidder pulls the logs to their landing, tree particles and seeds are cultivated into the soil.

Once the logs have been skidded to their landing, then the knuckle boom takes over.  The knuckle boom then grabs each log with it's grapple and loads those logs onto semi trailers or dump trailers for transport.

Knuckle Boom

Logs are transported to sawmills or to our woodyard where each log is either cut with a chainsaw to firewood length or moved to the firewood processor to cut and split.

Onto the splitters and processors. We have single wedge splitters used to resplit smaller speciality wood for cooking or species specific wood.

The longer logs go to the processor to cut and split for firewood, bundles or boiler wood.

Split firewood is loaded into trucks and trailers with tractors or loaders.

Now the firewood is ready for transport to your door.  This is when the drivers are ready to head out and start their day.

Some of perfect size split firewood then goes to the bundler to make bundles for our campgrounds, convenient stores and our roadside stand.

There so much more that goes into your firewood than an axe. All of these factors are combined together to make our job more efficient and to make sure you get the firewood and bundles in a timely manner.

All of this is a lot to soak in.  I hope I kept your attention and didn't send you into a deep sleep.  We love firewood and hope we can help you enjoy too.
